Few races worship the Gods as devoutly as the Shamani, or in their particular fashion. Shamani are a deeply religious race who try to live in concert with nature and with each other and worship the gods as spirit totems, finding aspects of the Gods in everyday life rather than the temples of the other species. Few outside the elven forests have ever seen a Shamani, and they exist only as a myth in many areas.

Like the Elves, the Shamani have a close tie with nature, drawing strength in a very literal sense from natural elements. While most prefer the forests, there are Shamani in virtually every landscape including underwater.

Shamani live in small villages when they congregate together, although many simply live as individuals or in small groups using nature itself as their shelters. They are extremely primitive by most technological standards, but their craftsmanship is every bit as skillful as that of the other races. They tend to use bows and small, fast weapons rather than larger cumbersome ones, and their tactics involve speed and precision strikes instead of protracted engagements. Most use little to no armor and even shields are uncommon.

Shamani see most of the gods as "Animal spirits" and worship them directly in animal form. Few recognize Orn by name, although many seek the wisdom of the Great Owl when they are in need of knowledge or insight. The White Doe (Eraen) is the most commonly worshiped by their Shamans, although worship of all but the evil gods is fairly common.

Shamani require one less tag to advance in Cleric skills, and may buy the skill Resist Poison. They can also purchase Street Skills at a discounted rate. They must pay an additional two points for all Two Handed Weapon and Shield skills.

Costuming/Makeup

Shamani have animal features which must be represented by makeup and/or prosthetics. Although most are mammalian, other animal types (especially birds and reptiles) exist as well and can be used. Insect Shamani are fairly uncommon but exist. Clothing tends to be extremely simple and in natural materials and colors. Weapons and equipment tend to be simple but well crafted and well maintained.
