To use a Prayer, you must first say "I call upon {diety}" followed by the appropriate effects call for the power you're using, then throw a packet at the target. Alternatively, you can use a power by touch instead of a packet on a willing or immobile target.

Clerics start with the knowledge of a single prayer to their god for each prayer taken as a skill choice. The initial prayers may be chosen by the player, as long as the prayers specific to their god is chosen first. Note that Orn has two apprentice level prayers dedicated to him, but selecting both together counts as one choice for purposes of determining which prayers a character knows.

After the initial skill selection, a cleric randomly learns one new prayer for each additional prayer skill chosen. Diety specific prayers must be learned before any others may be learned, but after that selection is determined by dice roll during Debriefing.
