The Tinker is probably the most widely ignored person in the world. However, without tinkers there wouldn't be much left of the world to tell stories about, since it is her inventions which keep the world running. Tinkers are responsible for building things, and few adventurers would turn down a tinker's offer to travel with them.

Tinkers are blacksmiths, medicine men, alchemists, trapmakers, carpenters and engineers. In addition to being able to create wondrous objects, she also possesses an innate knowledge of mechanics and frequently find the faults and weaknesses in other peoples' items. Tinkers are adequate replacements for thieves in the areas of trap disarmament and avoidance, although she generally lacks the skills in weapons and armor that the fighting inclined classes posses.

Because of her mechanical inclinations, a tinker is generally difficult for others to understand - her 'language' has terms and concepts in it that don't make much sense to those not inducted into the art. While this makes it difficult to get to know people, underneath the mechanical aptitude and semi-frequent explosions coming from her tent the tinker is just like anyone else and works well as part of a team.
