Few songs are sung of Bards, but no songs would be sung without them. The Bard is one of the most useful assets to her party, although she is almost useless alone. The spoken word is the single most powerful gift of the bard, and although she has no actual powers to speak of, her ability to affect the emotions of others is her greatest skill. Using her talents, she can stir her allies into otherwise impossible feats, or intimidate her opponents until they are weak with fear.

What she lacks in raw power she makes up for in versatility - combining the power to increase the powers of her friends and lower the defenses of her enemies. Along with this, bards make excellent traveling companions, entertaining the party with stories, songs and epics of heroes of bygone eras. Frequently her abilities also allow her to gain entrance to places others can't go, including the audience chambers of wealthy nobles who are willing to pay her to sing a few songs or tell a story.

Most bards view the truth as a flexible entity. While most of her stories have a basis in truth, very few are factually accurate. Embellishment, omissions and additions are all considered requirements for a bard's stories, and few self-respecting bards will actually give a factual account of any event without at least a little "enhancement". However, no bard is willing to take this too far, so while the minor fact that a Hero had an army helping her fight a dragon might be conveniently forgotten, it is unlikely that the heroine's weapon would be as well.
