Healer, Priest, Shaman - the Cleric has many names in many cultures, but few cultures are without one. While the Fighter leads her companions into war, the Cleric leads her companions in matters of Faith. A skilled Cleric can call upon the power of her god to perform otherwise impossible feats of healing or transform herself into an insturment of divine fury. While her primary role is that of a healer, most clerics are capable fighters in their own right, and when pressed can deliver strikes of holy energy to rival that of a wizard making her a well-balanced addition to any group.
Gone are the days when Clerics travel unarmed. While some still follow the old ways, most are now pragmatic and spend almost as much time in the practice yard as they spent in communion with their god. However, most of the gods frown on their chosen ones drawing blood, so most Clerics specialize in blunt weapons such as cudgels or hammers.
Few Clerics learn magic - the elemental energy channeled by a mage is considered a poor substitute for the divine will of her god. On the whole, Clerics tend not to get along well with Mages, although this is not always the case. Many followers of Orn in particular study all forms of the arcane, and there have been several skilled practitioners of magic amongst Orn's clergy.
More than any occupation a Cleric's abilities are defined by the god she worships. A Cleric's prayers are granted or rejected by her god itself and all of the gods refuse prayers that don't align with their beliefs. See the section on Cleric Prayers for more information.
