The newest Guild in Torodan, being only 57 years old, the Fisher’s Guild is described as the laziest Guild in Torodan. Originally the Order of the Fish, the Fisher’s Guild consists mostly of those in Torodan who would rather fish than work. While some hard-workers have formed a second Order within the Fisher’s Guild for hard-working individuals in the profession of fishing, it has too long held the reputation of being the worst Guild in Torodan. Despite this, the Fisher’s Guild has managed to get a profit just large enough to keep it registered as a trade guild, with its members divided between those who work hard and try to make a living off of buying and selling their fish, and those who simply fish as a way to get out of putting any energy into their work.

In stark contrast to the Sailor’s Guild from which it formed, the Fisher’s Guild is based around the style of a republic, with each member getting a single vote for the leaders of the Guild. Votes happen every third year, and those wanting to use the Fisher’s Guild to get ahead in the power structure will buy cheap booze for all of the Fisher’s in the area in an attempt to secure votes. While many might scoff at this, Ginbel Shots, the Guild Leader, worked his way into power using this technique, and is not well known among the Guilds for his apt decision making so much as his ability to be bought.

Most of the Guilds hold disdain for the Fisher’s Guild, with those in the Merchant’s Guild sometimes supporting decisions brought forward by the Order of the Net. The Sailor’s Guild has a particular dislike for the Fisher’s Guild, having seen them be lazy in the Sailor’s Guild and now watching them be lazy as their own, but prefer them to stay their own Guild rather for them to be brought back to the sailors.

The Order of the Rod

Symbol: A brown rod over a green-base sea on a blue field
Current Order Leader: Namlie Fifer
Requirements to Join: None
Requirements of Membership: None

The Order of the Rod was the first, and until a decade ago the only, Order of the Fisher’s Guild. In the Order of the Rod, most members do not engage in serious fishing, using fishing poles to catch as many fish as they need to survive, and rarely any more. While some members of the Order of the Rod are sailors who had to retire before their time, most are simply drunks, who do nothing but fish, eat, and when they have profit, drink. The Order of the Rod is also known for its bad accounting, and has had problems in the past because of chapters not keeping tabs on exactly how much each member of the Order of the Rod is making.

The Order of the Net

Symbol: A black net over a green-base sea on a blue field
Current Order Leader: Soren Balter
Requirements to Join: 6 silver/person (minimum 4) registration fee per crew
Requirements of Membership: Must work with a registered fishing crew

Created for those fishers who wanted to do good, honest work, the Order of the Net was formed. To ensure that its members are at least vaguely serious without issuing work orders, the Order of the Net requires that teams of at least 4 sign in to its membership. These crews must follow a charter that includes items such as not drinking on duty and what percentage of fish caught are to be sold to the market, and most members of the Order of the Net adhere to these rules quite well. Despite the fact that its membership is smaller than that of the Order of the Rod, many would like to see the Order of the Net rise in power, hopefully putting a responsible person in the seat of Guild Leader.
