Long after the initial exodus from their home world, some Terrans found their way back, only to discover much had changed on the world their parents had told them was home. Cities had become derelict, vegetation had reclaimed a good portion of the formerly civilized areas, and there were strange inhabitants living in the remains of what cities were left.
In the cities, the rediscovery team was met with a strange new people. They were a mix of man and machine, and were named Technoids. Near the crater where The Adept War had taken place, Terrans were living, though vastly changed. Living so close to the tainted ground for so long had changed them. The rediscovery team dubbed them Mutants.
The two new races recognized the roots of their kind and welcomed the Terrans home. The Terrans, though wary of the Technoids and Mutants, forged an alliance with them in the hopes of restoring the planet to its former glory. Terrans began to flock back to this place that was home, the Technoids set about repairing the planet in preparation for the incoming Terrans, and the Mutants set up stations to help welcome back their parent race and help them acclimate to the changed world.
For a few decades all went smoothly. In fact, it appeared as if another golden era was on the horizon for the Terrans. Unfortunately, it was not to be. On the fiftieth celebration of the day the Terran home world was rediscovered, the planet came under siege. For fifty years Terran purists had been plotting a strike in order to wipe out the freaks and abominations that had developed on their planet.
People immediately began swarming through the gates, trying to get as far away from the fighting as possible. Seeing that Mutants and Technoids were getting through the gates, the Terran purists used the most destructive weapon they had. They'd rigged several giant explosives to major fault lines and, when they exploded, the ground began to tear apart.
People began to flee without heed for possessions or family and, after a couple of hours, those left on the planet were gone. The Terran home world literally exploded from the damage it had taken. Three races became lost among the stars that day, without a true place to call home.
